2017 Huntingdon Prom

Not an official Photographer for this prom, but here are a few favorites. More can be found on my facebook page or here.

It’s a great time of year with the weather getting warmer and prom season. I have had the privilege of DJing the Huntingdon prom for the last several years. The first couple were eld at the Huntingdon Area High School. This year, the Raystown Resort and Conference Center was the venue.

My wife and I arrived pretty early and set things up. After that, I was upstairs to watch the kids roll in and hopefully get a few good pics. It was around 5 p.m. and they started arriving in all sorts of classic cars, jacked up trucks and so on. I took just a few candid shots while waiting for the kids to be introduced.

Something I like about the Huntingdon Prom, they have the couples line up. The couples walk up, hand a teacher with a card with names on, and then the teacher introduces them. I think that’s a good feature. They then go stand in front of a backdrop of sorts and the parents have a chance to get a picture in their prom gowns and suits. When they have their prom at the high school they actually have a set of stairs they bring in and the couple walk to the top of them, pause and then go in to the dance.

When they were being introduced, they were also under a roof, which caused the need for a flash. I was off to the side, which may not have been the best spot, but I gave parents first dibs at center. There was light coming in from the far side and making its way in and hitting the couples on the right side and my flash was filling in the left.

I look forward to next year and hope I have the chance to get more photos and share them here. Great kids great and we had a lot of fun. I hope they did as well.
