John & Rhiannon Wedding – June 12, 2021

After a VERY long break, caused by covid and a knee replacement, I had the honor to shoot a wedding for John and Rhiannon at the new venue called Stone Valley Estates. I was also the DJ for this event and my wife ran our photo booth. Yes, a busy day. Thankfully we were able to set up the night before. Sadly we were not able to run through the practice.

We arrived around noon, set some tings up for the wedding (sound system) and then off to where the girls were getting ready. They were in the house that has been completely remodeled and WOW! Is it amazing? We grabbed a few shots and then got the shoes and rings to get some quick shots of them.

We went back and got a few more photos of the girls getting ready, then headed out to find the boys. Most of the time the guys are in the “let’s just get this over with mood”. On this day they were in to it and were making suggestions on where to shoot and how to line up.

Next we headed back inside and where hoping the girls were ready to get some pics done. It was around 2:30. The wedding was at 3:30. They were ready and we went behind the house. There is a very nice concrete area with a roof, a grill and sink. Not to mention some very comfortable seating. We did a bunch of photos there and then it was wedding time.

The wedding was took place below the main doors to the barn. A nice place, where there was a fair amount of shade for the couple to stand. We were VERY lucky as far as the weather goes. Earlier in the week there was a good chance of rain, but wedding day it was cloudy, not too hot and not too cool. Perfect. I grabbed a bunch of photos during the ceremony, but wasn’t able to move around that much as I was also playing music for the ceremony.

We moved to the side of one of the old buildings where the colors of the building made the colors of the wedding parties clothes pop. We stayed there as long as we could. Then we had to move to a more stable area. Because it had rained the past week the girls shoes sinking in the ground.

After that we moved inside for the reception where the temperature was just right. A couple of REALLY big fans on the ceiling of the barn kept things pretty cool. We had the speeches a good meal and then the first dance. A really good song, which I was not familiar with.  Always Be My Baby, by Alan Jackson. I know, how could I not know that song? Father daughter dance, Mother son and then a parents dance. After that we played a song for the brides daughter who had been in a BAD accident earlier. I also read a note from her mom as to how lucky we were to have her there.

So the dances are finished for the most part and it’s time for the garter and bouquet throw. Let’s just say they didn’t go as planned. The bride threw the bouquet up. It hit a light and fell down about a foot behind where she was standing. The same kind of thing happened for the garter toss but in the end it all worked out.

Cake cutting was a lot of fun. I was standing pretty close to the couple where I heard the bride ordering the groom to NOT smash her face with cake. She did not play by her own rules and really crushed the grooms face. It was an awesome site.

We are done with the formal dances and events so we moved outside where we set up the DJ equipment for the remainder of the night. Then and only then I saw the bride shedding a tear. I am not sure when, either way I grabbed a shot of it.

Hopefully I won’t have such a delay between events the next time I post here. Hopefully no more knee replacements. It has been 6 months and it is still swelled but thankfully things were set up nicely that we could walk around and get most of the shots we needed. Thanks to John and Rhiannon, the wedding party, parents and everyone that let me shoot the wedding. It was a lot of fun. You can see a sample of the photos below. I hope you enjoy. Click the image below to look through the images. They are in no particular order. I’ll post more on my facebook page in the future.
