Wedding – Joe and Markie

A new wedding venue for me on this date, September 24th 2017.The 500-acre Sinoquipe Scout Reservation near Fort Littleton. It was a beautiful day, not quite feeling like a fall day with the temperatures around 80. There was a slight breeze that made it perfect other than the Hickory nuts that were falling right where the guests would be sitting. Thankfully the breeze that was bringing those Hickory nuts down faded before the 4 p.m. ceremony time.

Things started on schedule and everything was beautiful as Markie made her was down the isle. The pastor ask who gives  this bride and although it was not heard by all, it was heard by many, “His mother and I”. That brought a smile to the faces of everyone as the father of the bride corrected himself and looked at his daughter who was looking at him. It was a great moment.

The wedding reception was also held at the Sinoquipe Scout Reservat in what I believe was the cafeteria. I was the DJ for this event and knew I might have some trouble keeping people interested in dancing where there was a beautiful wrap around porch.

The meal was delicious and instead of cupcakes or a cake the couple had a pie bar. There were no complaints about that. They did do the traditional cake cutting. Something of a surprise happened when the bride took cake to the best mans face, shoulder, back and various other places. Another great moment.

The dancing lasted to around 10 pm. At that point from what I understand the groom had been convinced to enter the swimming area at the lake. I am not sure if there were swimming trunks or ANYTHING in the way of clothing for that event.

I played their first dance song as the last dance song of the evening. “Have I Told You Lately that I Love You” by Rod Stewart. A beautiful song to end a beautiful day with Markie and Joe. Thanks for everything and happily ever after.
