Nick & Kelsey wedding!

A December wedding! With snow! This wedding was not like the wedding I DJed a couple years ago at Brookmere Winery,  although it did have a lot of the same faces. At that wedding Kelsey’s sister was getting married. I was the DJ and just taking photos for fun. I was honored that Kelsey ask me to DJ and photo her wedding. There would be some differences from Brookemere Winery compared to the venue where this wedding would take place. This wedding was to be held at the United Methodist Church in Mount Union Pennsylvania.
I liked the thought of shooting photos in this church but also thought it was going to be a big of a challenge, it’s dark in there. I was so worried I spent the evening before the wedding at the rehearsal looking for a good place to get photos. A lot of pastors don’t like flashes but fortunately It wasn’t a problem this time.
We started the day around 11 in the morning. It was snowing, the roads were a little on the slick side but it didn’t seem to hurt the attendance. I believe there was to be around 195 people. I think they hit close that mark.
Music was provided by Alex Ashman. He is amazing. There will only be a minimal amount of photos of Alex. He told me there would be a 5 dollar charge for royalty fees for each photo I took of him. I do admire him for what he is doing with his life. His hard work definitely shows, or should I say it sounds.
When I first got to the church the bride was getting ready and we were able to get a few shots of her having her hair done, getting in the dress and make up. She looked beautiful and her dress was amazing.
The service had a rope tying service that was done differently than we had seen before. Each time they tied a part of the rope the paster ask them questions about being faithful to each other. They made promises to each other. A beautiful addition to the service. We couldn’t leave after the service without going out on the steps for a shot. The problem we were going to have for this shot was it was 14 degrees and the women in the wedding were all wearing sleeveless, shoulders dresses. Even with a winter coat on it was cold. In fact, I think my camera was having trouble adapting to that temperature. I am sure my hands were having trouble making adjustments to the controls.
After the service it was out to the Mount Union Country Club for the reception. It was 4 pm and the bride wanted a few pictures with snow. At 4 pm in December it is getting a little dark but we did what we could.
Nick and Kelsey are a beautiful couple. The wedding party was great as well as the parents. I hope they like the photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
I’ll have a lot more photos I’ll post on my facebook page and a lot more  for the bride and groom after that.
